The SGB as a key stake holder as per SASA shall be responsible for the governance in the school.
Functions of the School Governing Body (SGB):
The governing body must promote the best interests of the school and ensure its development through the provision of quality education for all learners at the school.
Administer school finances as per Circular 13/2000
Adopt a constitution
Develop the mission statement of the school
Adopt a code of conduct for learners at the school
Support the Principal, educators and other staff of the school in the performance of their professional functions
Administer and control school property, building and grounds occupied by the school
Determine times of the school day consistent with any applicable conditions of employment of staff of the school.
Encourage parents, educators, learners and other staff to render voluntary services to the school.
Recommend to the Head of Department (CEO) the appointment of educators at the school, subject to the Employment of Educator's Act of 1998(E of EA) and Labour Relations Act(ACT 66 of 1995)
